As you answer questions in the LearningClues system, our DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Student History) model keeps track of your progress by assigning probabilities to different concepts. These probabilities represent our system’s estimate of your mastery level for each topic. Here’s what they mean and how they help you improve:
What Do the Probabilities Represent?
- Each probability score (0 to 1) reflects how confident the LearningClues system is that you understand a particular concept:
- High Probability (0.8 – 1.0) → You have demonstrated strong understanding in this concept. Keep practicing to reinforce your skills!
- Medium Probability (0.5 – 0.79) → You have some knowledge of this concept, but there’s room for improvement. More practice will help solidify your understanding.
- Low Probability (0.0 – 0.49) → You may need additional review or practice on this concept. The system will recommend more questions to help you improve.
Why Do Some Concepts Have Probabilities Even If I Haven’t Practiced Them?
The LearningClues system estimates your understanding of related concepts based on your past quiz performances. Some concepts overlap with others, meaning progress in one area might affect another. For example, mastering Linear Equations can improve your probability in Algebra as well.
How Does the LearningClues System Adjust My Probabilities?
- When you answer a question correctly, your probability in that concept increases.
- When you answer incorrectly, the probability decreases, and the system may suggest additional practice for that concept (under Suggested Review).
How Can I Use This Information to Improve?
Focus on concepts with lower probabilities → The system will guide you by suggesting more practice questions in these areas via Suggested Review.
Reinforce medium-probability concepts → Additional practice can help move these to a high-confidence level.
Maintain strong performance in high-probability areas → Keep answering questions to prevent forgetting key concepts over time.
